Salary Schedule

Under general supervision, the position involves performing custodial tasks for an assigned school. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors. Performs related work as directed.

Examples of Essential Functions

1. Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers in a timely, courteous, and empathetic manner, representing OCPS positively.
2. Uses electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuums, shampoo machines, and buffers during assigned hours.
3. Handles chemicals and cleaners safely and effectively, following instructions and regulations to ensure safety.
4. Ensures areas are opened and secured properly each day, including locking doors and windows and turning off electrical units.
5. Performs custodial tasks like waste disposal, window washing, dusting, and vent cleaning.
6. Sanitizes restrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias.
7. Performs physically demanding tasks with heavy custodial equipment, including mopping and waxing floors.
8. Responds to emergencies such as spills or broken windows to prevent hazards.
9. Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
10. Maintains cleanliness of tools and reports maintenance needs.
11. Performs routine maintenance on custodial equipment.
12. Completes non-cleaning tasks like changing light bulbs and setting up for events.
13. Works independently or as part of a team, depending on the task.
14. Stays current with technology relevant to the role and attends training accordingly.
15. Maintains accurate and timely job-related information.

Minimum Training and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred, with experience in operating custodial equipment and meeting physical requirements, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
