Salary Schedule

Under general supervision, the position involves performing custodial tasks for an assigned school within the district. Employees are responsible for completing a routine of custodial duties that ensure the school environment is safe, attractive, clean, and conducive to learning. Performs related work as directed.

Examples of Essential Functions

1. Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous, and empathetic manner, representing OCPS positively.
2. Uses electrical cleaning equipment like vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, and buffers during assigned hours.
3. Uses chemicals and cleaners safely and according to instructions to ensure safety for all.
4. Ensures areas are opened properly and secured after cleaning, including locking doors and windows and turning off electrical units.
5. Performs custodial tasks such as waste disposal, window washing, dusting, and vent cleaning.
6. Sanitizes restrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias.
7. Handles physically demanding tasks involving heavy equipment, such as mopping, waxing, and buffing floors.
8. Responds to emergencies like spills or broken windows to prevent hazards.
9. Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
10. Cleans and maintains custodial equipment and supplies.
11. Reports equipment issues and maintenance needs to supervisors.
12. Performs routine maintenance on custodial tools and equipment.
13. Assists in general facility maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs and restocking supplies.
14. Works independently or as part of a team, depending on the task.
15. Stays updated on current technology and attends training as required.
16. Maintains accurate and timely job-related information.

Minimum Training and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred, with experience in operating custodial equipment and meeting physical requirements, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
