Job Overview
The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
- Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment
- Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
- Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Address risk behavior of self and others
- Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
- Maintain a clean work area
- Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers
- Fill in during staff shortages
- Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
- Use proper personal protective equipment
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand customer service and satisfaction
- Understand reporting systems and environmental requirements
- Perform repetitive tasks as needed
- Perform janitorial duties
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: No specific education requirement; 3‑6 months training or experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license; completion of all required safety and task training certifications; forklift certification may be required.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bilingual a plus; ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals and their safe and efficient use; willingness to share knowledge with team.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regular lifting and/or moving of up to 35 pounds. The role requires frequent sitting, talking, and listening. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Compensation & Shift
Monday‑Friday, 4:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Pay range: $16.50 – $17.50 per hour.
