Job summary

Little Elm ISD is seeking a Custodian to maintain safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds at our Little Elm, Texas campus. The role reports to the Head Supervisor within Operational Services and requires adherence to district policies and safety procedures.

The position is full-time, on-site, and calendar-based with a 240-day schedule. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED (preferred) and about one year of custodial experience (preferred).

• Assists in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and orders supplies as needed.
• Assists with lunchroom setup and arranging tables and chairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health and safety of students and staff.
• Makes minor building repairs and reports major repairs to the administrator.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintains a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, walls, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms.
• Keeps school buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean.
• Complies with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
• Assists in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and orders additional supplies as needed.
• Assists with the lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health and safety of students and staff.
• Makes minor building repairs as needed and reports major repair needs to the building administrator.
• Moves furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the building administrator.
• Assists in setting up facilities for special events.
• Assists with opening and closing buildings each school day.
• Follows established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
• Inspects machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
• Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
• Complies with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule and board policy.
• Complies with all district and campus routines and regulations.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• All work must be completed on site.

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours

Mental Demands : Maintain emotional control under stress
