Job Description

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned buildings to ensure they are clean, safe, functional, and secure according to district policies and standards. The role requires ensuring the facilities are operationally excellent, with no interruptions to the educational program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with custodial and/or maintenance experience
• Good mechanical skills, with heating & ventilation experience
• Strong work ethic, initiative, interpersonal skills, and independent judgment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
• Effective use of technology

Responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior custodial duties to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety
• Report major and minor repairs to supervisors
• Follow instructions from the head custodian or supervisor
• Support curricular and extracurricular events and activities
• Assist visitors using the facilities
• Work on-call for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, or custodial needs outside normal hours, including weekends

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Stand, walk, climb, bend, crawl, and lift objects up to 50 pounds
• Make quick, responsible decisions in emergencies or hazardous situations
• Observe details at close and distant ranges
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Work indoors with potential exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures, and hazardous chemicals
• May need to ascend ladders

Schedule

Part-time (20 hrs/week), full-year employment
