Job summary

Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician I (Custodian) to perform general janitorial for assigned buildings and grounds. The role focuses on keeping common areas clean and debris-free to protect residents, visitors, and staff.

Under supervision, responsibilities include cleaning lobbies, halls, offices, restrooms, and leased units, alongside assisting in basic maintenance and security tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; one year custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Ability to organize time and meet assignments.
• Familiarity with building cleaning equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain KCDC lobbies, community halls, offices, and restrooms.
• Perform general cleaning of leased units as assigned.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors with appropriate solutions and tools.
• Clean walls, ceilings, windows, and fixtures; apply wax on floors as needed.
• Maintain grounds and common areas; empty trash in offices and common areas.
• Notify supervisor about material needs, major repairs, or system additions.
• Assist with building security and access control.
• Assist with office moves and meeting setups as needed.
• Prepare housing units for painting and clean appliances as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
