Job summary

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform general janitorial tasks and maintain buildings and grounds. You will help keep common areas clean, safe, and well maintained for residents, visitors, and staff.

Under supervision, you will conduct routine cleaning, assist with unit upkeep, and support security and operations as needed. This is a non-supervisory, on-site role at KCDC properties in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of one year custodial experience.
• Knowledge of HAZMAT regulations for chemicals used during job performance.
• Ability to express and transmit ideas in writing and verbally with supervision, residents, and staff.
• Organizational skills to manage time and meet assignments.
• Mechanical understanding to operate tools like hand/power tools, ladder, vacuum, floor buffer, and cleaners.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains lobbies, community halls, offices, and restrooms.
• Performs general cleaning of leased units as assigned.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and cleans floors and surfaces.
• Cleans walls, windows, fixtures; applies floor finishes as needed.
• Maintains grounds and parking areas; keeps common areas tidy.
• Notifies supervisor of material needs and major repairs.
• Assists with security and office moves as needed.
• Cleans appliances and sanitizes bathrooms; handles waste disposal.
