Job summary

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a Custodial Supervisor for the Facilities & Operations department to direct, train, and inspect custodial staff, ensuring all University buildings are cleaned to the highest standards. This is a full-time, second-shift position (2:00 pm–10:45 pm) with a shift differential.

Candidates should have a high school education or equivalent, 5+ years of supervisory experience, a valid driver's license, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Five+ years of full-time verifiable supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR per university policy.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Knowledge of current cleaning practices and disinfectants.
• Blood-borne pathogen cleanup certification or within six months of hire.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
• Familiarity with laws related to supervising employees.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodial staff to ensure high cleaning standards.
• Plan and schedule monthly or quarterly projects and track supplies.
• Perform building audits and report maintenance needs.
• Instruct and train staff, document training activities, and provide feedback.
• Assist leadership with interviewing, payroll records, attendance, and staff discipline decisions.
• Ensure building security by locking/unlocking doors and gates.
