Job summary

The DM Burr Group is hiring a Full Time Floater Custodian for the Oxford School District in Michigan. The shift is primarily 2nd shift with some flexibility for 1st shift and weekends. Workers will clean, operate floor care equipment, and maintain facilities across schools, keeping logs and reporting to a supervisor.

We offer a $500 hiring bonus after 90 days, comprehensive benefits, and daily pay options to access earnings promptly. A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical cleaning tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable work habits.
• Flexible availability, including some weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Use approved cleaning methods and materials to maintain assigned areas.
• Operate floor machines (scrubbers, buffers, vacuums) and perform polishing.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash and restock restrooms and break rooms.
• Remove stains and clean rugs, walls, and fixtures as needed.
• Document cleaning activities and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance and report safety issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as; auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/ janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Requires the ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Ability to follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Must have valid driver’s license and your own vehicle for transportation
