Job summary

The DM Burr Group is hiring a Full Time Custodian for the 2nd shift at Vestaburg Schools, Michigan. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm, with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour and a $200 hiring bonus after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• 0-6 months custodial/janitorial experience with cleaning equipment
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Able to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Able to follow basic verbal and written instructions
• Attention to detail
• Team-oriented approach

Responsibilities

• Use approved methods and materials to clean and care for the facility
• Operate and maintain equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines and vacuums
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors with industrial machines
• Empty trash receptacles
• May remove stains from rugs, drapes, walls and floors using cleaning solutions
• Clean furniture, window sills, walls
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings and polish light fixtures
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture and equipment to access areas
• Stock and clean restrooms, janitorial closet and break rooms
• Record cleaning functions on logs and report to Supervisor
• Perform light building maintenance as needed
• Report major safety items for repair
• Other duties as assigned

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as; auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Other duties as assigned.
