Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Custodial Engineer I for Western Heights Middle School to maintain the school's facilities and supervise custodial staff on the day shift.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and at least three years of commercial cleaning and building maintenance experience; two years supervisory experience; and proficiency with computer systems for work orders and communications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Minimum three years of experience in commercial cleaning and building maintenance.
• Minimum two years of experience supervising other employees.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment for minor maintenance and furniture assembly.
• Ability to use computer systems for ordering supplies, entering work orders, receiving and sending emails.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the physical plant of a middle school.
• Perform interior cleaning with hand and mechanical tools.
• Develop knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; perform fire drills and test emergency lighting/generator systems.
• Carry out grounds-keeping including snow removal.
• Make minor repairs to equipment and buildings.
• Conduct monthly safety checks of facilities and equipment.
• Order supplies and maintain inventory.
• Maintain and operate all types of mechanical equipment.
• Provide custodial services to groups after hours and on non-school days.
• Assist principal and staff with co-curricular activities as appropriate.
• Coordinate with Lead Custodian for second shift staff assignments.
