Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Chief Custodian – Level I at Hickory Elementary School to organize, schedule, and coordinate custodial operations, including boiler and HVAC maintenance, within the Facilities Management framework.

The role requires a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and supervisory experience to lead staff, ensure safety, and perform inspections across the site. Benefits are provided by HCPS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of custodial/mechanical experience with at least one year in a supervisory or lead role.
• Must hold a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s License.
• Attending pesticide application training and maintaining a pesticide certification.
• Ability to read and prepare requisitions, order and secure supplies.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, schedules, and coordinates custodial program at a level I facility.
• Operates and maintains boilers, HVAC, and related equipment.
• Inspect safety, sanitary, and security standards; maintain fire extinguishers and equipment.
• Supervise custodial staff and coordinate after-school custodial supports.
• Respond to emergencies and manage pest control and safety procedures.
