Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Chief Custodian – Level I at Fountain Green Elementary School to organize, schedule, and oversee the custodial program. Responsibilities include operating boilers, HVAC systems, and ensuring safety and security across facilities, under the Facilities Management Department.

The position requires a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s License, pesticide certification, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years custodial/mechanical experience with at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s License required by the Maryland State Board.
• Pesticide application training and pesticide certification required.
• Ability to read requisitions and labels; manage supplies and equipment inventory.
• May require valid driver’s license to perform essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boiler, HVAC and related equipment.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of mechanical systems.
• Supervise custodial staff and coordinate after-school custodial support.
• Record fuel usage and assist with efficiency reports as needed.
• Oversee procurement of fuel, supplies, and equipment; ensure security of inventory.
• Coordinate with administration on safety and performance improvements.
