Wittenberg University is hiringfor aCustodial Building Attendant position. Thepositions may be full-time (working approximately 40 hours/week) or part-time (working up to 29 hours/week). Full-time positions are offered benefits; part-time positions are eligible for prorated leave benefits (vacation, sick, personal).Whenopenings occur, you may be contacted for additional information or to schedule an interview.
This Building Attendant provides a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff including but not limited to daily cleaning, detail cleaning, trash removal, assisting with floor care of assigned locations, picking up litter, shoveling and salting entry ways, etc. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities Management. The Building Attendant shift may require work during evenings and/or weekends.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Performs routine building maintenance and custodial duties in restrooms, lounges, hallways, offices, storage areas and workspaces including dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, washing windows, vents, office equipment, emptying trash, etc.
Maintains exterior entryways to buildings.
Maintains supply inventory.
Changes light bulbs as requested.
Works independently and perform duties in accordance to operational standards and work order requests.
Operates equipment such as carpet cleaners, floor cleaners, snow blowers, salt applicators, shovels, etc.
Performs seasonal work such as debris and litter removal in adjacent green areas.
Follows all safety precautions of cleaning product labels.
Inspects assigned areas and corrects or reports safety hazards as appropriate.
Performs basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs on campus equipment used (for example vacuum, floor cleaning equipment, etc.).
Observes safe work methods and uses appropriate safety equipment; secures worksites from safety hazards as necessary; attends safety meetings and applicable training.
Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used in applicable record keeping systems used.
Participates as an active member of a team.
Represents the University with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff, students and visitors and maintains a professional image at all times.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, development activities, etc.
