What You'll Do

The Curriculum Manager is responsible for the day-to-day managing, coordination, and delivery of the pre-clerkship M.D. curriculum at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). The Curriculum Manager works under the supervision of the Director of Curriculum within the Office of Educational Affairs (OEA) and co-supervises two Curriculum Coordinators, one designated for the 1st year curricular programming and the other designated for the 2nd year curriculum. The Curriculum Manager has responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery of all elements of the first- and second-year curriculum including: creating and editing academic schedules; management of course pages on CANVAS and other learning system platforms; meeting regularly with Course Directors, other faculty, and staff to develop and deliver courses; tracking and managing of educational materials; administration of exams; and interacting with medical students on various aspects related to the pre-clerkship medical curriculum. The Curriculum Manager attends meetings with students, faculty, and other offices within the medical school, such as course director meetings, student representative meetings, and the Curriculum Committee.

  • Manage pre-clerkship (1st and 2nd year) medical school courses:

    • Collaborate with course directors and other OEA staff in the preparation and delivery of each course, including course planning meetings, and monthly course directors’ and curriculum committee meetings.

    • Ensure that course materials (eg, slides, pre-work, recordings) are received from faculty and posted in a timely manner for students

    • Review and edit materials to ensure educational standards are met (eg, learning objectives are appropriate to each session; grading criteria are clear; course hours are compliant).

    • Create and distribute small group assignments for active learning sessions.

    • Interface with Educational Media, Library, CANVAS, and other offices necessary for delivering content.

    • Serve as a resource for students and faculty as questions or problems arise related to any aspect of a course within the pre-clerkship medical curriculum

    • Archive educational materials in accordance with accreditation standards

  • Manage academic schedules for pre-clerkship medical education program.

    • Collaborate with course directors to schedule and confirm courses that abide by regulations set by the Curriculum Committee, considering room and faculty availability and other constraints

    • Enter finalized schedules into learning management systems (LMS) and managing scheduling changes as they arise, including labelling sessions appropriately within each LMS (such as mandatory sessions).

    • Book rooms and educational spaces to hold scheduled sessions

    • Collaborate on activities critical to the mission of the Office of Educational Affairs.

    • Coordinate with the Director of Evaluation and Assessment to ensure exams are developed and delivered in accordance with testing standards.

    • Participate in exam delivery and proctoring as needed.

    • Participate in occasional working groups or task forces coordinated by the Dean of Educational Affairs or Director of Curriculum that are relevant to the pre-clerkship curriculum.

    • Support and contribute to annual updating of OEA policies and manuals.

    • Communicate with other TUSM offices as needed regarding aspects of the pre-clerkship curriculum, such as course start and end dates, exam dates, student enrollment changes, or course hours.
