Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a Cultural Relevance Mentor to support culturally responsive instructional practices across schools. The CRM will mentor teachers, collaborate on lesson development, and contribute to professional learning opportunities under the Iḷisaurrisuqsipkaiñiaqti Specialist.

The role emphasizes partnership with school leaders to reflect District Pedagogy, strengthen student engagement, and improve instructional quality.

Qualifications

• Current NSBSD employee (teacher or qualified instructional professional).
• Deep understanding or willingness to deepen understanding of Iñupiaq culture and District Pedagogy.
• Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning and mentorship training.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing, non-evaluative mentorship to teachers in implementing culturally responsive practices.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt culturally relevant lessons and resources.
• Model effective instruction and facilitate peer collaboration and growth.
• Participate in required training and CRM cohort meetings.
• Develop and share instructional videos, model lessons, and culturally relevant resources.
