Job summary

Fargo Public Schools seeks a Mentor to support student success with a strong focus on attendance, academics, and social-emotional wellbeing. You will work with students individually and in groups, building connections to culture and community while guiding goal setting and progress monitoring.

The role emphasizes culturally grounded mentorship, collaborations with school staff, and participation in restorative practices. Grant-funded for one year with a 9-month schedule.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in a human services-related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and inspire individuals and groups.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive practice and building positive student relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor students individually and in groups to improve attendance, behavior, academics, and self‑advocacy.
  • Strengthen student wellbeing by supporting social‑emotional learning and cultural identity.
  • Maintain and monitor student data, goals, and progress, with regular feedback to students.
  • Build trusting relationships and elevate students' cultures, identities, strengths and experiences.
  • Facilitate communication among students, families, school staff and other supports.
  • Collaborate with administrators and staff to support student progress.
  • Lead groups and Warrior Circles using restorative and culturally grounded practices.
  • Participate in restorative conferences and related student support processes.
