Job summary

NMS is seeking a Cook for an industrial kitchen located on a university campus in Anchorage. The role involves preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, along with production sheets and related duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Alaska food handler card or ServSafe, and at least two years of related experience. English proficiency and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must have or obtain a Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Two years of related work experience.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record per policy.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Performs all main line food production duties as assigned.
• Reviews daily needs with supervisor, completes production sheets, reviews maintenance reports and verifies supply needs.
• Assists supervisors with menu and recipe development.
• Maintains quantity, quality control and sanitation in production areas.
• May assist in supervision and training of food service personnel.
• Arranges kitchen helpers for smaller item preparation.
• Oversees food serving lines to ensure proper stock, setup and cleanliness.
• Fills in for other kitchen positions as needed.
• Adheres to rotation procedures for produce and dairy.
• Maintains sanitation and operation of equipment and storage areas.
• May assist other staff as required.
