Job summary

NMS is seeking a Cook for an assisted living kitchen in Alaska. The role covers preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, plus completing production sheets and supporting food service activities.

Responsibilities include line production, daily needs review, sanitation, inventory checks, staff training, and supervising serving lines. Immunization records and English proficiency are required; a Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification is expected within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.
• At least one year of general food service experience.
• Immunization records for TB and willingness to vaccinate if offered.

Responsibilities

• Performs main line food production duties on the kitchen line.
• Prepares food per par level sheets and standards of Nutritional Services and Health Department.
• Reviews daily needs with supervisors and completes production sheets.
• Ensures quantity/quality control and maintains sanitation of areas.
• Assists in training food service staff and assigns tasks.
• Oversees serving lines and coffee bars, ensuring stock levels.
• Enforces FIFO rotation and adheres to HACCP standards.
• Completes temperature and sanitation logs for freezers, coolers, and warmers.
• Supports the safety program and may assist others as needed.
• Other related duties; this contract may include supervisory responsibilities.
