Job summary

NMS is seeking a Food Service Worker to perform cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a school kitchen and related areas in Alaska.

Typical tasks include washing dishes, cleaning dining and storage areas, stocking product, and assisting cooks. The role requires English fluency; a high school diploma or GED is preferred, and some positions may require a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience in food service or cleaning roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc., and stores them orderly.
• Maintains products at required levels in prep, serving, or storage areas.
• Stocks storage areas with various products.
• Cleans, sweeps, and wipes dining, kitchen, or storage areas; cleans floors.
• Removes garbage; sets up or breaks down tables and serving lines.
• Assists with large planned cleaning projects.
• Assists cooks and coordinates activities with others.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, or meats.
• Other duties as assigned.
