Job summary

Ohio Living is seeking a Service Manager to lead the Culinary and Nutritional Services Department across life plan communities. You will organize dining operations, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality food service, sanitation, and compliance with state and federal guidelines.

The role emphasizes coordinating with other departments, managing inventories, and upholding residents’ dining experience while maintaining program budgets and service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in culinary, hospitality, nutritional services, or related field preferred.
• CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) certification preferred.
• CFPP (Certified Food Protection Professional) certification from ANFP preferred.
• ServSafe certification required or willing to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Three years experience in food service operations and/or hospitality management required.
• Experience in supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility, hospital, or related medical facility preferred.
• Knowledge of dietary practices/therapy and procedures, and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the life plan community preferred.
• Strong knowledge of service operations with focus on quality, sanitation, cost control, and presentation required.
• Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet; proficiency with POS and diet management software.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and directs the Culinary and Nutritional Services Department and its service activities.
• Ensures timely and efficient meal service by being available in service areas at meal times.
• Maintains quality, sanitation, and safety in culinary services areas and equipment.
• Staffs department and schedules to meet departmental needs.
• Communicates inventory and requisitions; maintains stocks at adequate levels.
• Coordinates services with Nursing, Maintenance, and Housekeeping.
• Develops methods to assure quality and quantity of food served.
• Monitors adherence to infection control and universal precautions.
• Provides training and orientation for department staff.
• Supervises service staff and evaluates performance.
