Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Culinary Lead to inspire customers and coach a culinary team in-store, delivering best-in-class classes and experiences.

You will lead recruitment and training, drive sales, ensure food safety, manage inventory, and partner with store leadership to grow engagement through cooking classes and events. The role emphasizes teaching, brand representation, and guest obsession across kitchen and sales floors, with 20–25 hour weeks, weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old; culinary degree preferred or equivalent kitchen leadership experience.
• 1-2 years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience.
• Valid Food Manager Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing culinary team.
• Lead, coach, and inspire associates to exceed performance and uphold a positive team culture.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and feedback to elevate performance.
• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences.
• Stay current on products and training, and seek additional resources.
• Ensure outstanding cooking class experiences by following recipes and plans.
• Work with leadership to increase foot traffic and store engagement through classes and events.
• Drive sales growth by implementing strategies to enhance culinary and retail business.
• Analyze key performance metrics daily to optimize store performance.
• Maintain food safety standards, sanitation, inventory, and cost controls.
• Ensure store safety, cleanliness, and compliance with wage/hour laws.
