Job summary

UPMC Southwestern PA offers a one-year, non-ACGME fellowship in cardiothoracic critical care. The program immerses board-certified and board-eligible intensivists in a high-volume CTICU to develop advanced knowledge, clinical skills, and leadership in cardiothoracic critical care.

Fellows will experience daytime rounding, ECMO consults, and night shifts with independent management of CTICU patients, with attending support from home for acute issues.

Qualifications

• Board-certified/board-eligible intensivists targeted.
• Immersive CTICU fellowship with high-acuity care.
• Exposure to advanced cardiothoracic procedures and devices.

Responsibilities

• Spend months in a 28-bed CTICU gaining in-depth knowledge.
• ~22 weeks of daytime rounding with autonomy.
• ~36-night shifts with independent CTICU management.
• Overnight ECMO support and cannulation; ICU leadership support.
