Job summary

Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is seeking a Career & Technical Education Advisor to plan, implement, and evaluate CTE programs for all students. You will conduct career interest assessments and help with planning strategies to support postsecondary readiness.

The role reports to the Director of CTE Education and requires TEA Counselor certification, with strong collaboration across middle and high schools to promote student achievement and college/career readiness.

Qualifications

• TEA certification requirements for Counselor
• Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
• Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations
• Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings
• Ability to work with groups of students and teachers
• Highly Qualified as per NCLB guidelines, if applicable to teaching assignment

Responsibilities

• Supplement the academic program by ensuring proper use of funds as defined in Perkins Act.
• Provide CTE advisement to middle and high school students and parents.
• Conduct advisement interviews, assess goals, and select CTE program of study.
• Collaborate with counselors to create graduation plans including CTE completer status.
• Work with administrators, teachers, employers, and counselors to disseminate occupational information.
