Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform imaging procedures with independence and clinical judgment. The role includes patient education, contrast administration within scope, safety and quality control, and equipment troubleshooting.

Required ARRT or NMTCB certification, CPR, and background clearances. CT experience preferred; CT certification within 18 months if not yet held. This full-time position emphasizes patient care and accurate imaging results.

Qualifications

• Completion within 18 months of CT certification if not already certified.
• CPR certification required by American Heart Association.
• Background clearances: Act 34, Act 33, Act 73 and FBI fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and orders; educate patient on procedures.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope.
• Prepare equipment, set exposure factors, ensure safety and quality control; troubleshoot equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently . Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. ( 4 0%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Associate degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire

Preferred

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist

Additional Employment Requirements:

One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained:

• Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR
• NMTCB registered (CT) certification

For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022: CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.

• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
