Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiology Technologist to independently perform imaging procedures with strong judgment and initiative. You will review orders, educate patients about procedures, and monitor patient status while ensuring high image quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include administering contrast when ordered, preparing equipment, and troubleshooting equipment issues. ARRT or NMTCB certification required; CPR and background clearances must be maintained.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in radiologic technology.
• ARRT registration (RT) or NMTCB (CNMT) required at time of hire.
• CPR certification required.
• Background clearances (Act 34/33/73) required within 18 months if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Position and image patients independently and ensure quality; analyze results and resolve image quality issues.
• Review patient history and orders; educate patient about procedures and equipment.
• Prepare contrast media/medications when ordered; monitor patient condition and respond to changes.
• Prepare equipment, select exposure factors, ensure safety standards, perform QC, and report malfunctions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently . Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. ( 4 0%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Associate degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire

Preferred

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist

Additional Employment Requirements:

• One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained: Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR
• NMTCB registered (CT) certification
• For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022: CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
• CPR - American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
