Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a CT Technologist to perform CT scans per protocol, maintain radiation safety, and assist radiologists with advanced examinations. The role includes patient preparation, contrast administration, and education while ensuring accuracy and documentation within the department.

Ideal candidates hold ARRT registration, a JRC-approved Radiologic Technology program, and state certification; CT certification is preferred at hire but must be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a JRC approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered with ARRT.
  • KY Radiation Operators certification.
  • BLS.
  • CT Certification preferred at time of hire but required within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination.
  • Assesses patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure.
  • Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed.
  • Produces CT scans according to established protocols with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Evaluates finished images/series for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality.
  • Demonstrates good radiation safety practices during radiographic examinations.
  • Performs venipuncture and contrast injections in accordance with department and hospital guidelines.
  • Ensures examinations are complete to include and exam logged in computer system.
  • Instructs Radiologic Technology students in the CT Scan positioning and technique.
  • Attends and participates in department staff meetings and in-services.
  • Assists in training new personnel in hospital and department procedures.
  • Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems.
  • Uses appropriate customer relations skills to ensure that customer expectations are met including flexibility in scheduled hours.
  • Assist in quality improvement programs in the department.
  • Maintains appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice and ensures a current copy is on file in the department/hospital.
  • Ensures that assigned areas are kept clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
