Job summary

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority is seeking a CT technologist to perform CT procedures, verify orders with radiologists, and prepare patients with clear explanations. You will manage IV contrast, review medical histories, and ensure high image quality while following safety protocols.

Responsibilities include equipment operation, documentation, shift rotations, crisis response, and collaboration with anesthesia where needed. Strong adherence to radiation safety is essential.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification or NMTCB certification in Nuclear Medicine is required.
• Advanced registry in CT from ARRT within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Examine requests and verify orders; refer to Radiologist before performing exam.
• Identify patients with two identifiers and explain procedures; prepare patients.
• Interview patients for medical history and review EMRs to obtain pertinent history.
• Assume responsibility for the exam from start to completion of dictated results.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast per departmental protocols; record contrast type/amount.
• Evaluate image quality; consult Radiologist as needed; process additional reconstructions.
• Provide basic patient care; initiate life support if needed; assist in code blue situations.
• Perform CT scanning; maintain sterile technique; follow infection control policies.
• Operate radiology information system; document contrast administration in MAR.
• Keep work area neat and stocked; assist other personnel as needed.
• Rotate shifts including call-back, holidays, weekends; follow attendance policy.
• Report equipment malfunctions; adhere to radiation safety guidelines.

Education

ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB Nuclear Medicine,
