Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital in Akron, OH is seeking a CT Technologist to produce cross-section images for diagnosis. You will administer contrast, operate the CT equipment, position patients, and ensure safety and comfort while delivering high-quality imaging.

You will have the chance to learn dual-energy imaging, pursue continuing education credits, and join a team with great culture. Work involves four 10-hour night shifts (10:30 PM–7:00 AM) with rotating days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT Registered Technologist (R.T.(R)) in good standing.
• CT Certification (R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT)) within one year of hire.
• Current state licensure.
• BLS Certification through AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Provide computed tomography imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients of all ages.
• Check and prepare patients prior to CT study.
• Acquire patient chart data/requisition and review for correct room setup and potential medical issues.
• Verify that the study being ordered correlates to diagnostic needs.
• Assure patient's safety and comfort during procedures.
• Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within scope of practice and regulations.
• Maintain all aspects of CT area, including technical and clerical components, for quality assurance and documentation.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
• Observe equipment dysfunctions and report problems.
• Maintain equipment uptime.

As a CT Technologist, you will produce cross-section images of internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of various medical issues. Utilizing your advanced training and knowledge, you will accurately interpret scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. This role is critical in the overall treatment of our patients, making you an invaluable asset to the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position works 4 10-hour shifts between 10:30PM – 7:00AM. Days of the week will rotate.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide computed tomography imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients of all ages.
• Check and prepare patients prior to CT study.
• Acquire patients chart data/requisition and review both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems and contraindications to the study.
• Verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
• Assure patient's safety and comfort during procedures.
• Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform VNA punctures as necessary.
• Maintain all aspects of the CT area, including the technical and clerical components, to ensure proper quality assurance results and any required documentation.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
• Observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems to appropriate individuals.
• Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) in good standing
• Computed Tomography (CT) Certification [R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT)] within one year of hire
• Current state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range:

Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $48.50
