Job summary

Career Crunch in New Mexico is seeking a Cat Scan (CT) Technician to review patient history and orders, educate patients, and perform imaging procedures with CT equipment. The role includes contrast administration when within scope and ongoing safety and quality control responsibilities.

The technician will monitor patient status, position patients, analyze image quality, and report results. ARRT CT and radiography registrations, NM license, BLS, and an associate degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Current NM Radiologic Technologist license is required.
  • Associate degree in imaging or related field.
  • ARRT R and CT registries.
  • BLS certification current upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and quality control on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes results and identifies imaging quality issues.
  • Takes action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning and repeating procedures.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Job description

A Cat Scan (CT) Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current NM Radiologic Technologist license and possess an associate degree in a related field. Additional requirements include:

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.
  • License: ARRT certified/registered in radiography and Computed Tomography (CT)
