Atrium Health at CMC Main is seeking an experienced full-time Advance Practice Provider for weekend coverage in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care Unit. The APP will manage complex post-op cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacements, heart transplant, and mechanical support devices, with supervision by CT-ICU intensivists.

Eligible candidates are ACNPs or PAs with CT-ICU or post-grad ICU experience, NP/PA certification, BLS/ACLS, and NC licensure within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cardiothoracic ICU as an APP is required.
• Board-certified ACNP or PA with approved certs.
• Post-graduate ICU fellowship or CT-ICU experience.
• NC licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

Responsabilités

Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care Unit, Atrium Health at CMC Main

Weekend Position

Atrium Health at CMC Main is looking for an experienced full-time Advance Practice Provider (APP) with experience in cardiac surgery post op management and critical care to cover primarily weekend shifts. This position is seeking board certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) or Physician Assistants (PA). Experience in a cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CT-ICU) as an APP, or a post grad ICU fellowship is required for application. CT-ICU intensivists provide supervision. Duties include: admission directly from the operating room and management of hemodynamically complex, post op cardiac surgery patients. Familiarity with mechanical support devices ie ECMO, VADs, and IABPs as well as knowledge of heart transplant management is preferred but not required. Experience with procedures including central line, arterial line placement and intubation are helpful but not required.

Position Description:

• Daily rounding, evaluation, management and stabilization of complex post op cardiac surgery patients including but not limited to: CABG, valve replacements, complex aortic replacement, heart transplant and durable mechanical support devices
• Responsible for admission notes, daily progress notes, and billing
• Interpreting pulmonary artery catheter data and management of chest tubes and temporary epicardial pacing
• Management of mechanical support devices including VADs, ECMO, and IABPs
• Shifts would primarily include weekend days or weekend nights; preference of day shifts vs night shifts given to applicant
• 145 shifts per year
• Teaching opportunities with APP fellows and nursing staff
• Eligible for overtime, differential pay, PTO, and Performance Incentive Bonuses
• $2500 allocated for CME

Position Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program.
• Nurse practitioners are required to have a master's degree or doctorate in nursing practice. Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
• Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
• Post graduate ICU fellowship or experience in a CT-ICU
• Interpersonal skills and critical thinking must be demonstrated.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Will need to maintain mechanical support competencies.
• NC licensure within 60 days of hire
