Job summary

Angelo State University’s Department of Computer Science seeks a visionary Chair to provide academic and administrative leadership for undergraduate and graduate programs, promote student success, and advance curriculum innovation through assessment and collaboration.

Reporting to the Dean, the Chair will recruit and mentor faculty, oversee scheduling, budgeting, and program development, and build partnerships with industry and the community to enhance workforce preparation and research

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Computer Science or related field with ability to teach and lead across undergrad and grad programs.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for senior leadership.
• Academic leadership experience in higher education settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to improve student success through advising, engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Lead curriculum review and assessment for undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support faculty; promote shared governance.
• Develop external partnerships with industry and alumni to enhance learning and workforce prep.
• Oversee budgeting, scheduling, personnel, facilities, and compliance with policies.
• Drive continuous improvement using assessment data and strategic planning.
