Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis seeks a Crystallization Engineer to own end-to-end crystallization process design for a diverse pipeline of small molecules and peptides. You will work with chemists, analytical scientists, and process engineers to translate bench results into scalable manufacturing steps.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and delivering clinical materials on schedule while advancing continuous crystallization and particle engineering expertise.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing crystallization processes for APIs.
• Strong modeling and simulation skills including population balance modeling and thermodynamic solubility modeling.
• Experience with batch and continuous crystallization operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead crystallization process design end-to-end from nucleation to scalable processes.
• Innovate across crystallization strategies (cooling, antisolvent, reactive, seeded).
• Apply PAT tools (in-situ imaging, FBRM, ATR-FTIR, Raman) and DoE to build deep process understanding.
• Drive particle engineering strategy and support regulatory filings (IND, IMPD, NDA).
• Coordinate technology transfer to pilot plants and CMOs.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to standards across the organization.
