Job summary

Lilly’s Synthetic Molecule Design and Development team seeks a chemist to advance pharmaceutical candidate processes from lab to scale-up at the Indianapolis site. You will focus on developing cost-efficient synthesis with high manufacturing capacity, collaborating across chemists, analysts, and engineers.

Responsibilities include planning experiments, analyzing results, and communicating findings, using HPLC, GC, TLC, and purification methods, with strong emphasis on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related organic chemistry STEM degree.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor visas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative mindset; attention to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute laboratory experiments, analyze outcomes, optimize conditions, and document findings.
  • Prepare materials for program/project teams, interfacing with chemists, analysts, and engineers for scale-up.
  • Maintain a safe, organized lab and communicate results and data clearly.
  • Operate analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, TLC) and purification methods (flash chromatography, crystallization).
  • Interpret NMR and LC-MS data to support compound development.
