Job summary

Jefferson Lab is seeking a Rotating Machinery Technician to support the cryogenic group by maintaining and operating a variety of rotating and reciprocating machinery. The role will contribute to the daily operations of large helium refrigeration plants, including starting and stopping equipment, monitoring systems, and handling gas deliveries.

Required are at least 2 years of relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience with machinery.
• Experience with machinery alignment tools is preferred.
• Machinery repair experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, rebuild, and operate rotating and reciprocating machines (helium screw compressors, expansion engines, turbines, oil pumps).
• Involve in daily operations of large helium refrigeration plants; start/stop machinery and monitor systems.
• Open/close valves and receive gas deliveries; ensure vacuum systems for uninterrupted cryogenics.
• Be on-call and respond to after-hours operational emergencies.
