Job summary

Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA, seeks a cross-functional engineer to support spectrometers and experimental equipment in Hall A and C. You will repair, upgrade, maintain, and document equipment, with on-call support during runs, and collaborate with engineers and technicians.

You will also learn to operate the cryogenics system in hall C and assist SME with cryogenics operations. A Bachelor's in engineering/physics or a similar field, strong analytical skills, and clear written communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical field.
• No formal experience required.
• Strong analytical and numerical background.
• Good written communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate the cryo system in hall C under supervision of cryo SME.
• Assist in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power supplies and magnet control systems.
• Assist in documentation of equipment and work.
• Be on call 24/7 on a rotation basis for experimental support.
