Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a design engineer to own subsystems for cryogenic and high‑pressure fluid systems, from concept to fabrication release. You will build models, run P&IDs through reviews, and coordinate across mechanical, electrical, and operations.

The role requires field work, strong communication, and the ability to interpret incomplete information to deliver robust solutions in a dynamic, safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in fluid or mechanical system design, analysis, or release.
• Experience producing P&IDs and driving them through review and release.
• Proficiency in at least one fluid network modeling or thermal analysis tool.
• Working knowledge of fluid system components: valves, regulators, pumps, fittings, relief devices.
• Willingness to spend real time in the field: site walks and tests.
• Strong communication: written and verbal.
• Ability to obtain government installations badge and handle field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Design and release cryogenic and high‑pressure fluid systems from concept through detailed design and hand‑off to fabrication.
• Own P&IDs for assigned subsystems and maintain configuration through ECNs.
• Build flow‑network and thermal models to size lines and predict transient behavior.
• Perform pressure system calculations per ASME B31.3 and B31.12.
• Document work so the next engineer can pick it up cold.
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, and operations to keep systems buildable.
