Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Process Operator Specialist for the Air Separation Unit at Starbase to operate cryogenic distillation and LOX production, monitor equipment, and ensure safety.

You will perform startups/shutdowns, collect samples, and work with engineers to improve procedures while maintaining 5S and PSM discipline.

This night shift role requires strong problem solving and the ability to work across disciplines in a high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 6+ years of industrial experience in related fields.
• 4+ years operating automated industrial processes.
• Experience with cryogenic plants or industrial gases is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the ASU via DCS/HMI and field rounds; report deviations.
• Troubleshoot and calibrate critical ASU equipment (compressors, turboexpanders, columns, beds, analyzers).
• Execute plant startups, shutdowns, mode changes per procedures.
• Collect samples and log data; report deviations.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to implement designs in the field.
• Assist in developing operating procedures and checklists.
• Perform lockout/tagout and PSM activities.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in the ASU.
• Coordinate resources and spares; support reliability tasks.
• Learn cryogenic thermodynamics and distillation theory.
