Job summary

SpaceX is building its first production-scale Air Separation Unit at Starbase to produce high-purity liquid oxygen powering Starship. This on-site propellant facility aims to minimize supply risk for the launch vehicle and lays the groundwork for propellant production on the Moon and Mars.

As a process operator specialist, you will monitor cryogenic distillation, turboexpanders, compressors, and LOX production, execute startups and shutdowns, collect data, and support safety programs.

Qualifications

• Experience with cryogenic plants or industrial gas facilities is preferred.
• Familiarity with 120V/480V electrical equipment is beneficial.
• Experience with lockout/tagout, job hazard analysis, and PSM practices is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the ASU via DCS/HMI and conduct thorough field rounds, reporting deviations.
• Assist startups/shutdowns, mode changes, and abnormal situation responses per procedures.
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of ASU equipment including compressors and cryogenic columns.
• Collect process samples, log data accurately, and escalate when conditions diverge from procedures.
• Execute LOTO, permit-to-work, and PSM activities and maintain 5S and housekeeping.
• Learn and qualify on SOPs for major ASU systems and participate in shift handovers.
