Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a Process Operator Specialist, Air Separation Unit (Starship) for night shift at Starbase. You will operate cryogenic distillation systems, turboexpanders, and high-purity LOX production, reporting to Lead and Level 4/5 operators.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 1+ years of experience working in an industrial environment or plant operations dealing with air separation units, cryogenics, industrial gases, chemical, or oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the ASU via distributed control system/human-machine interface and conduct field rounds, identifying equipment and process deviations.
• Execute plant startups, shutdowns, mode changes, and abnormal situation responses per procedures and alarms.
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of ASU equipment including compressors, turboexpanders, distillation columns, and gas analyzers.
• Collect process samples, perform basic field testing, log data accurately, and escalate when conditions don’t match procedures.
• Perform lockout/tagout, permits-to-work, hazard analyses, and PSM activities; maintain 5S and housekeeping.
• Learn and qualify on SOPs for major ASU systems and assist with shift pass-down and continuous improvement.
• Support understanding of cryogenic thermodynamics, distillation, adsorption, and equipment performance through training gates.
• Ensure readiness for following shift and contribute to reliability and cleanliness improvements.
