Maintain control of children and vehicular traffic at crossing sites to ensure that children cross safely at designated sites.

Scope of Duties

• Directs actions of children at street intersections to ensure safe crossing.
• Records license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and reports infractions to the police.
• Observes vehicles and pedestrians near school crosswalks to report suspicious activity.
• Notifies authorities of uncooperative or abusive children.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance, with a goal of only 2 excused absences per year.
• Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Reports unsafe conditions immediately or by the end of shift.
• Provides exceptional customer service to promote a positive image and foster professionalism.

Supervision

Reports to the Field Supervisor at Andy Frain Services. Exercises no supervision.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of community geography and key locations.
• Analytical observation skills and clear reporting abilities.
• Calm and quick reaction to emergencies.
• Good intelligence and emotional stability.
• Effective tactful interaction with the public, especially children.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• Physically capable of performing duties in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read, interpret, and communicate safety rules and procedures in English.
• Must attend a mandatory School Crossing Guard class.

Tools and Equipment

Stop paddle, reflective vest, whistle, and optional items like cell phone, rain gear, gloves, reflective cap, first aid kit, warm winter gear, and traffic cones.
