Job summary

J. W. Pepper is seeking a package handler to accurately check, package, seal, assemble and load customer orders while using an RF scanner and following company standards. The role includes cross-training in shipping, order picking, stock put away, replenishment and basic receiving duties.

The position requires lifting 30+ lbs, long hours in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility for seasonal overtime including weekends; safety and teamwork are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Operate an RF scanner.
• In depth knowledge of the warehouse layout.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment sometimes for long hours.
• Schedule flexibility to accommodate seasonal overtime requirements including weekend work.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong motivation and a sense of urgency.
• Must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting deadlines due to tight scheduling.
• Excellent dexterity and coordination.
• Physical strength – Must be able to lift 30+ lbs frequently.
• Physical stamina – Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods; Must be capable of twisting, stooping, squatting, bending, climbing and reaching above shoulder level on a frequent basis.

Responsibilities

• Fill boxes with dunnage and seal securely to prevent damage in transit.
• Sort packages by carrier and ship method.
• Make sure packages are properly labeled.
• Ensure items are placed in the correct parcel container.
• Sort packages between box or envelope.
• Build pallet of outgoing boxes stacking appropriately for shipping.
• Place all flat envelopes in bags.
• Load all outgoing packages onto truck.
• Gather, stack and return empty totes to the pick zone locations.
• Return all partially picked orders to the appropriate pick zones.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Follow all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and stocked with necessary supplies.
