Job summary

Newmark is seeking a Critical Facilities Technician - Mechanical / HVAC in Southfield, MI to monitor and operate critical facility systems, including chilled water and building automation. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, incident response, and safety compliance in a high-stakes data center environment.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in critical facilities, EPA refrigerant certification preferred, and a stationary engineer license desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an Associate/Trade degree is preferred.
• EPA Refrigerant Certification: Universal / CFC desired for handling commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Stationary Engineer License is highly desirable.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on operational experience in a critical environment (Data Centers, Hospitals, Trading hubs).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate critical facility systems including chilled water, electrical distribution and BMS.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis during outages or equipment faults.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using CMMS and follow PM schedules.
• Maintain documentation: SOPs, MOPs and EOPs, and ensure safety compliance (LOTO, NFPA 70E).
