Westmed Ambulance Service is seeking a Critical Care Transport Paramedic to provide advanced life support and intensive care during patient transport. This role requires strong clinical skills, decision-making abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced life support and intensive care to critically ill or injured patients during transport. This role requires advanced clinical judgment, strong decision-making, and the ability to function under pressure in high-acuity settings. Working alongside a Critical Care Nurse or independently (based on protocol), the CCT Paramedic ensures continuity of care during critical transfers between facilities or to specialty care units.
Administer advanced life support (ALS) and critical care interventions in line with WestMed protocols and physician orders.
Operate and manage complex equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
Perform pre-transport assessments, including reviewing medical records and patient status with sending staff.
Provide continuous monitoring, medication administration, and clinical documentation during transport.
Collaborate with EMS, hospital staff, and receiving teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
Maintain ambulance readiness, including equipment checks and restocking supplies.
Follow safety standards, infection control guidelines, and HIPAA compliance.
Current California Paramedic License.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (CCEMT-P or FP-C preferred).
3+ years of 911 or critical care transport experience required.
Strong clinical skills in airway management, cardiac care, trauma, and medication administration.
Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Critical Care Paramedic certification (CCEMT-P, CCP-C, or FP-C).
Previous experience in interfacility or air medical transport.
Familiarity with mechanical ventilation and hemodynamic monitoring.
Deliver high-acuity care in a progressive EMS environment.
