Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved respiratory care program.
• Massachusetts Licensure for Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and NBRC certifications.
• Proficient oral and written communication.
• Minimum one year of previous job experience.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Provide emergency care, including artificial respiration and CPR assistance.
• Determine treatment requirements and monitor therapy per physician orders.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and report adverse reactions to physicians.
• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and disease management techniques.
• Inspect and maintain respiratory therapy equipment for safe operation.
• Perform pulmonary function tests and adjust equipment to optimize therapy.
