The role emphasizes education, documentation, and compliance with hospital standards. Requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, Illinois RCP license, and RRT/CRT credentials.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
• RRT or CRT credential required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other respiratory treatments.
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation.
• Respond to emergency situations including Code Blue and Rapid Response events.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling, pulse oximetry, and pulmonary function testing as applicable.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EMR.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and infection prevention standards.
