Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our acute care team. You will manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation, monitor patient response, and adjust therapy according to physician orders and protocol.

The role requires hospital-based experience, CPR and NRP within 90 days, and IL/WI licenses as applicable. You will document care in the EMR, participate in rounds, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and families to support patient recovery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• RRT or CRT licensure may be accepted; CRTs must earn RRT within 1 year of hire.
• CPR and NRP certifications within 90 days of orientation.
• IL/WI Respiratory Care Practitioner licenses as required.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine therapies to aid in treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cardiopulmonary status.
• Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Make parameter recommendations based on clinical, technical, and laboratory data.
• Titrate oxygen and medications per protocol; adjust according to patient response.
• Document care timely in the EMR and departmental records.
• Respond to emergent care situations and assist with resuscitation per AHA guidelines.
