Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty clinical team. You will supervise hospitalized patients, assist with procedures, and educate clients on care and medications.

A State RVT license and prior critical care or emergency experience are required. This full-time role offers growth within a fast-paced, compassionate hospital network focused on advanced treatments and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license is required.
• Prior veterinary experience, especially in critical care, nursing or emergency settings, is preferred.
• Strong drug calculation and administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds; discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care.
• Collaborate with the care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and general wellness of hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with assessment and procedures; monitor anesthesia and recovery.
• Perform in-house labs and prepare samples for external testing.

We are looking for:

Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician

Never a dull moment in Critical Care! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. You should enjoy phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous Critical Care, Nursing or Emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
