Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Worthington, OH is seeking a dedicated Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced emergency and specialty team. You will supervise hospitalized patients, assist with anesthesia, and support client education while collaborating closely with DVMs.

Ideal candidates hold a State RVT license and bring prior critical care or emergency nursing experience.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
• Prior Critical Care, Nursing or Emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

We are looking for: Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician

Never a dull moment in Critical Care! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. You should enjoy phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you'll do:
