Job summary

MedVet in Chicago, IL is seeking a Critical Care Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency and specialty team. The role supports veterinary technicians and veterinarians to deliver high-quality patient care, with emphasis on supervision, recovery support, client follow-up, and education.

The ideal candidate has veterinary experience, strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic ER environment.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced ER environment.
• Work well in a team and independently as needed.
• Flexible hours and potential overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patients receive quality care.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Oversight and care for stable patients.
• Assist Veterinary Technicians with patient restraint.
• Manage restocking of supplies for clinical teams.
• Maintain clean treatment areas and manage laundry.

We are looking for:

Critical Care Veterinary Technician Assistant

Initial hiring range: $16-$21/hour based on skillset and experience

Never a dull moment in the ER! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Ensure patients receive quality care
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Oversight/care for stable patients
• Assist Veterinary Technicians with patient restraint
• Manage the restocking of supplies for clinical teams
• Maintain clean treatment areas and manage laundry needs of department

• Ability to multi-task, self-motivated and strong attention to detail
• Work successfully as a team member and autonomously
